One important way FNC helps parents support their children’s healthy growth is by providing child development screenings.
The Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) is a tool that has been used for more than 15 years to make sure children ages 1 month to 5.5 years are meeting developmental milestones. This questionnaire helps parents get a quick and early look at how a child is doing in areas such as communication, motor skills, and social-emotional skills.
The ASQ can help identify a child’s strengths as well as any areas where a child may need additional support. Since parents and caregivers know the most about their child, they are the ones who complete answers to ASQ screening questions with a trained Parent Screener at a convenient time and place in their community.
Screeners will provide and explain results to parents and share information about supporting children’s healthy growth at home and through Parent-Child Playgroups. If there are any concerns about developmental delays, Screeners will help families connect with additional services, including Early Intervention.
FNC is also able to provide the ASQ-SE screening, with a special focus on social-emotional development.
