During the session on Children's Power and Independence in Family Nurturing Programs, children make Power Vests, and parents make Power Hats - visual reminders about using "Personal Power".  Family members learn that Personal Power is not about how strong we are. It is about how able we are to use everything we know, everything we feel, and everything we have to meet our needs in positive ways.  Read more...

On a typical Tuesday, parents are engaged in Carianza con Cariño, our Nurturing Program in Spanish in Allston-Brighton. Children and parents are playing, reading, and singing together in Playgroups in three neighborhoods. A Welcome Baby Visitor brings a gift bag to a mom living in a Dorchester shelter with her newborn. A little girl and her grandmother anticipate the arrival of their Parent-Child Home Program Visitor. Our Parent-Child Home Program Coordinator, Lydia Brown (center); Program Assistant, Judy (left); and Early Learning Specialist, Guerline (right), were featured in the Massachusetts Parent-Child Home Program October newsletter.  It was a full-circle moment for our PCHP staff, as Lydia was once Guerline’s home visitor and Guerline was once Judy’s home visitor! Since 2009, Family Nurturing Center has been coordinating the Parent-Child Home Program in Boston, serving over 80 children and their parents each year. Read more...

When the idea to ride 25 miles in the Rodman Ride for Kids was brought to Harry Martinez's attention, he thought two things: he wanted to do 50 miles, and he remembered Rob Gronkowski is the Honorary Ride Chairman (Harry's a serious Pats fan!).  When he found out how the Ride helps organizations like Family Nurturing Center, he was even more eager to participate. Dads aren't the only member of the family we celebrate in June! This month is a busy time for FNC as parents and children graduate Family Nurturing and Nurturing Fathers' Programs.
