Through parenting education, early childhood family engagement, coalition and community building, and training and technical assistance, FNC partners with families, professionals, organizations, and communities to strengthen protective factors, prevent child abuse and neglect,

Headquartered in Dorchester, with community sites in Hyde Park, Chelsea, and Allston Brighton, FNC provides evidence-informed, culturally responsive programs in multiplelanguages while partnering with organizations across Massachusetts through statewide training, technical assistance, and systems-building initiatives.

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Director of Programs & Impact, the Director of Parenting Education & Training provides strategic and operational leadership for Family Nurturing Center’s Parenting Education & Training portfolio. The Director is responsible for establishing the long-term vision and direction of the portfolio while ensuring high-quality parenting education, Nurturing Programs, professional learning, technical assistance, and workforce development initiatives that strengthen parents, caregivers, professionals, and communities.
The Director leads the design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of evidence-informed parenting education programs, statewide training initiatives, technical assistance, curriculum implementation, and facilitator certification systems. This position ensures services remain family-centered, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and reflective of the
diverse strengths and experiences of the families and communities FNC serves.
Working collaboratively across the organization and with community partners, the Director expands FNC’s reach and impact by strengthening provider capacity, cultivating strategic partnerships, identifying opportunities for growth, and ensuring the Parenting Education & Training portfolio evolves in response to emerging research, community needs, organizational priorities, and funding opportunities throughout Massachusetts. The Director engages with statewide early education leaders, professional networks, and other subject-matter experts to
ensure FNC’s offerings remain current and adapt to evolving research and best practices.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Management
- Provide strategic leadership for FNC’s Parenting Education & Training portfolio, establishing a long-term vision aligned with the organization’s mission, strategic plan, and community needs.
- Evaluate opportunities to expand, redesign, integrate, or sunset programs based on organizational priorities, community needs, outcomes, and financial sustainability.
- Monitor emerging research, evidence-informed practices, and policy trends to strengthen FNC’s parenting education and training portfolio.
- Develop systems that promote consistency, accountability, innovation, and operational excellence across the division.
- Collaborate across departments to align programming with evaluation, communications, development, and broader organizational strategy.
- Use data, feedback, and outcomes to assess program effectiveness, identify gaps or duplication, and guide continuous improvement.
Program, Training & Practice Leadership
- Provide leadership and oversight for Parenting Education, Nurturing Programs, Training, and Technical Assistance.
- Ensure high-quality implementation of evidence-informed curricula and training models while maintaining fidelity to program standards.
- Oversee facilitator development, coaching, certification, and ongoing professional learning.
- Deliver training, technical assistance, and professional learning as needed while building the organization’s long-term training capacity.
- Ensure programs and learning opportunities remain culturally responsive, trauma informed, and reflective of community needs.
Partnership, Business Development & External Relations
- Develop and sustain strategic partnerships with public agencies, community organizations, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and statewide networks.
- Represent FNC as a leader in parenting education, father engagement, family strengthening, and workforce development through conferences, professional organizations, and collaborative initiatives.
- Partner with the Advancement team to identify funding opportunities, contribute subject matter expertise for grant proposals, and support the development of new initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to expand fee-for-service training, technical assistance, contracts, and other earned revenue that advances FNC’s mission.
- Maintain relationships with curriculum developers, certifying organizations, and strategic partners to ensure continued access to evidence-informed parenting education models and facilitator certification opportunities.
Operations, Budget & Performance
- Develop and manage division budgets in partnership with Finance and the Senior Director of Programs & Impact.
- Monitor financial performance, staffing, referrals, participation, and program outcomes to ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
- Provide strategic oversight of Virtual Gateway referral processes and other systems that improve equitable access to services.
- Ensure compliance with grants, contracts, certification requirements, licensing standards, and organizational policies.
- Use program data and evaluation findings to strengthen decision-making, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate managers and other direct reports.
- Build leadership capacity through succession planning, professional development, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Establish clear expectations and accountability while fostering an inclusive, mission driven culture.
- Lead organizational change with transparency, collaboration, and effective communication.
- Model FNC’s values by remaining engaged in training, facilitation, and professional learning while empowering others to lead and grow.
- Promote an inclusive and accountable culture where staff feel supported and clear on expectations.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Human Development, Psychology, Counseling, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Adult Education, or a closely related field.
- Seven (7) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in parenting education, family support, early childhood, education, behavioral health, human services, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience leading programs, managers, trainers, facilitators, or multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-informed parenting education, professional training, technical assistance, or capacity-building initiatives.
- Experience managing public grants, government contracts, or other externally funded programs, including contract compliance, reporting, and performance management.
- Experience developing and sustaining partnerships with public agencies, community organizations, educational institutions, or statewide networks.
- Experience developing, monitoring, and managing program budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop leaders while promoting curriculum fidelity, continuous improvement, and high-quality implementation.
- Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, project management, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, father engagement, trauma-informed practice, and family-centered approaches.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Education, Human Development, Psychology, Counseling, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Adult Education, or a closely related field.
- Professional licensure or specialized certification related to parenting education, family support, behavioral health, early childhood, or adult education.
- Experience working within nonprofit human services organizations.
- Experience collaborating with state agencies, institutions of higher education, or statewide systems to advance parenting education and workforce development.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $98,000–$103,000, commensurate with experience. Work Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week onsite. Regular travel between FNC locations and community partner sites throughout Massachusetts is expected. Evening and weekend hours are required on occasion to support programs, trainings, meetings, community events, and other organizational priorities.
