The annual Lunar New Year Celebration at FNC Allston-Brighton on January 31 brought families together in an evening of warmth and light. Despite the winter downpour outside, 640 Washington Street was buzzing with energy and excitement. In one corner, children competed to toss arrows into a tall vase; at another table, a grandmother guided her grandson’s hand through Chinese calligraphy strokes as his parents looked on. At other stations, participants practiced using chopsticks by racing to empty a bowl of toy dumplings, or put on temporary tattoos with symbols of luck and prosperity for the new year. As the evening wound down, families connected over a feast of Chinese and Thai food. At the close of a busy week, it was a joy to bring the community together in a celebration of cultures accessible to all.
