About Us

Every parent wants their child to have the best possible start in life. And every parent needs a responsive, supportive community, especially when they face obstacles that make the job of parenting even more challenging. That’s where we come in.

Our Mission

Family Nurturing Center of Massachusetts advances the healthy development of children, caregivers, and communities through parenting education, early childhood engagement, coalition building, and training for family service providers.

Our Vision

A world where every child thrives, every family flourishes, and communities are built on care and connection.

What We Do

Through parenting education, early child development programs, coalition and community building, and training and capacity building, FNC partners with families and organizations to create nurturing environments where both caregivers and children can thrive. When families receive support through our programs, they strengthen their understanding of child development, build stronger relationships with their children and their neighbors, and grow into the parent they want to be.

Our work is rooted in the understanding that parenting is learned and can radically shape a child’s future. Through a continuum of programming—from welcoming a new baby into the world, to Parent-Child Playgroups with an emphasis on early literacy, to intensive parenting education programs—Family Nurturing Center helps parents feel supportedconnected, healthy, and safe.

How We Do It

FNC offers programming for families in neighborhoods across Boston, with locations in DorchesterAllston-Brighton, Hyde Park, and in the City of Chelsea, and provides training for family service providers throughout the region. As the leader of the Boston Family Engagement Network, funded by the Department of Early Education and Care, we collaborate and share resources with organizations that serve families throughout the city. We partner with the Department of Children and Families to protect children, support caregivers, and equip social workers with evidence-based nurturing skills. Our team engages over 7,500 children and caregivers in Boston and trains more than 1,000 providers across New England each year.
